Daytona 500 - 2012

While in Daytona, Florida in the spring of this year, we had to stop and see this for DH.

For a challenge at ScrapShotz to use banners - I used a sketch and idea from the Fall 2012 issue of Scrapbook and Cards Today for this layout using all CTMH products (except for the Bazzill cardstock).  The paper and stickers are from the kit called "Cruisin".

PG5 in Merrickville - 2012

It's wonderful to be scrapping again. I haven't done a layout since NOVEMBER! I was too busy with Christmas cards and gifts to do an actual layout.

This one came together fairly quickly since I had already mapped it out in my head.

Here is the PG5 in Merrickville shopping for the day as we celebrated one of the gals 60th birthday.

Jabba the Cat - 2012

For a layout tag over at ScrapShotz using the new November kit.

Our cat loves to sit like this sometimes. We call it her "Jabba the Hut" pose.

Day with Dad - 2012

At the same CTMH workshop, I did this layout.

My sister and I took my Dad out for the day.

Farmer's Market - 2012

This layout was done at last month's CTMH WOTG but I didn't finish it until yesterday.

While I was down visiting my parents, Mom, sis and I went out for the day. One of the places we stopped at was this cool farmer's market.

Halloween 1981

For a challenge over at SSZ to do a layout WITHOUT any photos.  I used some old K&Company paper here.

I had already done this story back in 2009 but I hated it. Not only was the year wrong, the journaling was crooked.  So this was a good opportunity to redo an important story.

It's the story of how DH and I met, at a Halloween party (he was dressed as Fred Flintstone - yababadoo). I don't have photos of him or I at this event.

SSZ October Kit

The ScrapShotz October kit included the paper line called Harvest Lane by Simple Stories, Bazzill Cardstock, BoBunny buttons and bling, some canvas trim and Studio Calico canvas leaf stickers.  This is my last kit as Design Team member : (

I did 3 layouts, 2 cards (not shown) and a Welcome Sign.

This first layout is based on the sketch provided and are of photos taken when my Mom and I first met Dad's Canadian family in Snelgrove (just outside Toronto), in 1954.  I'm the baby in the photo.

The second layout is a simple one showcasing a photo of the PG5 (minus one) having lunch on one of our PG5 weekends. This was the first time I ever ate a club sandwich (really!)

The third layout is of my little brother and our dog Queenie in 1959 (France).  That dog would let my little brother do anything to her.

The welcome sign was made by altering a Dollar Store sign with the paper in the kit. I also added some inked grungeboard alphas and hung it with some ribbon from my stash.

Turning 59 - 2012

I've started a new class at Big Picture Classes called Kit-tastic.  It's all about making your own kits from your scrappy supplies or using existing kits. I have so many, I thought it would inspire me to use some of them up.

This layout encompasses 2 of the challenges this first week - contrast and a sketch (by Valerie Salmon). I used the SSZ May kit - which includes the Heidi Swapp - No Limits line of paper.

This is a photo of me and my brother who was in town the day of my birthday. We spent the whole morning and early afternoon together and he treated me to breakfast AND lunch.  We spent most of the time downtown at the market.  The other two photos are of curried shrimp (yum) what I had for dinner with DH and the beautiful flowers he gave me.

CTMH WOTG - Avonlea

I've started up my monthly Close to My Heart Workshop on the Go and did two 2-page layouts using this kit.

The first is of Hampton Beach, NH where we were staying only a few days ago.  What a beautiful spot!

The second layout is of our beautiful niece's wedding shower that I went to in July.

SSZ - September kit

This was SUPPOSED to be my last kit as design team member for ScrapShotz, but I've been extended for another month.

I did three layouts and 3 cards (not shown).

This first one, based on the sketch is my very first school class photo.  It was taken at l'Ecole internationale in France. I am the first kid seated in the bottom row.

The 2nd one is my sister and I in France.

The last one is of my great-niece (plus her Barbie and Ken dolls) who was here for a visit a couple of weeks ago.  This layout was lifted from one in the recent Creating Keepsakes magazine.

Elephant or Moose? - 2012

Day 17 from BPC 28 Days of Sketches.  Paper from my scrap bin and I used some microbeads (that I got at Xmas) on a chipboard heart .

These photos are of a birthday gift I received from a friend. She collects moose and I collect elephants. She thought this animal looked like a combo of the two.  Is it an elemoose or a moosephant?

The journaling reads:

This is Dad's version of the story: "The owner of this camel was not too happy when he turned around and saw me take this picture. With the poor little boy hanging on for dear life, the Arab and the camel chased me down the beach. He kept hollering for money while the boy's parents were fit to be tied watching their poor son bouncing along trying to hang on."

No. 1 Fan - 1930s

1st layout for Summer Kit 2012 reveal for ScrapShotz.  All Authentique patterned papers and stickers. Based on the sketch provided.

Titles were stamped with CTMH alpha stamp - Varsity.

These are photos of my dad in the late 1930s wearing his Toronto Maple Leafs jersey.  He is STILL a leafs fan to this day!

OBX - Cape Hatteras Lighthouse - 2009

Based on Day 3 of BPC 28 Days of Sketch class.

The Cape Hatteras lighthouse in OBX (Outerbanks, NC).

I used Websters Pages paper and some corrugated alphas for this layout.

Ben & Jerry's - 2011

Day 2 Sketch from BPC - 28 Days of Sketches.

Our tour of the Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream factory in Vermont.

I used the SSZ Summer 2011 kit plus some ribbon and buttons from my stash.  I made my own diecut ice cream cone with the Fiskars pennant and cloud punches.  The ice cream photo is downloaded from the internet (we weren't allowed to take photos in the factory itself where we ate the sample).

Christmas Ornaments - 2010

I've started at an on-line class at Big Picture Classes called 28 Days of Sketches, Round 2. Like the title suggests, you get a new sketch to use each day for 28 days.

This layout is based on Day 1 and is of some of my Xmas ornaments and the new tree topper for 2010. I used old Basic Grey and BoBunny Xmas papers from my stash. I punched out some snowflakes to give some added dimension.

Rosie's ScrapShotz July Challenge

Rosie's July challenge over at ScrapShotz was to take one of the previous kits and use up the leftovers.  So I took the March kit and made 2 layouts and 10 cards! Whew!

First layout - Meeting Lisa 2012:

My sister's best friend was here on course so she came up to see her. We all met for lunch and I got to meet her (and her daughters) for the first time.

Second layout - 1958:

This is my mom's favourite photo of my sister and I in 1958. I have wanted to scrap this photo for ages and finally found the perfect paper! The boots are Microsoft Word clipart printed out and coloured by me.

Lion King - 2011

Finally scrapping again.

Based on a challenge over at ScrapShotz to used phone pictures. I don't take any but my friend did when we went to see the Lion King last July.

Used an old CTMH jungle-themed kit for this one.

The first one are just a few family photos from a weekend down at my parents in April of this year.

Visiting the RCAF Museum in Trenton, Ontario - 2009.  Dad is standing next to the machine he used to work on.

Motorcyles - 2012

DH wanted to go to this famous motorcycle place in Daytona while we were there.

I lifted this layout from the Simple Stories blog using the AwesoME line.  It isn't exactly the same but it works for these photos.

Xmas 2011

Using Week 4 Sketch 4 of Big Picture - It Takes Two class I did up this layout with random family shots last Christmas.

All patterned paper and dies are Teressa Collins and cardstock is Bazzill.
